ISUZU’s origins can be traced right back to 1916, when the Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding & Engineering Company diversified into automobile production. In 1933 it launched a new truck model and named it after a Japanese river. In 1934 this truck was named ‘Isuzu’, and in 1949 the company changed its name to ISUZU MOTORS Ltd.

Now, over a century later, ISUZU is proud to boast that its production lines are still flowing steadily – just like the river itself.

ISUZU’s main truck manufacturing facility in Fujisawa is one of 18 production facilities across the world. Operating a two shift pattern it produces vehicles for global markets to meet customer demands, with one vehicle rolling off the end of the production line every 105 seconds.

The company follows "ISUZU MONOZUKURI" (IM) in all of its manufacturing activities, a concept based on continuous improvement, which concentrates on processes, procedures and mechanisms to improve production techniques with safety, quality and efficiency being the primary drivers.
